The Menard Lawyers team has been established in the north for many years. They work with passion to defend the interests of their clients on the Ungava Bay, Hudson Bay and James Bay.

Through our experience working up north, we have acquired a privileged bond with our clients as well as with various key workers in the communities.

Whatever your personal, financial or legal situation, we are there for you 24 hours a day, every day.

What is the Itinerant Court?

The itinerant court is a full team composed of judges, clerks, special constables, crown prosecutors and defence lawyers that travel from community to community in Northern Quebec to hear criminal and youth protection cases. The main goal of the itinerant court is to make justice more accessible to the population.

Why the Itinerant Court?

The Itinerant Court ensures that the judicial system can operate even in the most remote communities of Quebec, despite the geographic, economic and environmental difficulties it may encounter.

In communities that lack adequate infrastructures, the Court can sit in community centers and even school gymnasiums.

Where does the itinerant court travel?

In Northern Quebec, the itinerant court serves around fifteen Inuit and Cree communities in territories covering the Hudson Bay, Ungava Bay and James Bay:

  • Hudson Bay: Inukjuak, Kuujjuarapik, Puvirnituq, Salluit et Whapmagoostui
  • Ungava Bay: Kangiqsualujjuaq, Kangiqsujuaq, Kangirsuk, Kuujjuaq et Quaqtaq
  • James Bay: Chisasibi, Eastmain, Waskaganish et Wemindji
