Driven by his passion for criminal justice, Mr. Balan used his time in university to deepen his understanding of criminality, all the while giving back to people in need. At McGill, he served as Co-Director for the Innocence McGill legal clinic, investigating claims of wrongful convictions for serious crimes committed in Québec, and volunteered with the Mobile Legal Clinic, offering legal information and accompaniment services to unhoused people in the city of Montréal. Currently, he is working as a legal assistant for the Ménard Avocats/Lawyers team, in anticipation for the beginning of his articling position with the Ménard, Daviault, Grey team.

Passionate about criminal and penal law, human rights law, and international law, Maire Dowdall joined the team at Yves Menard a legal researcher. In this role, she gathers and analyzes case law to support attorneys in building cases. Maire also assists with various administrative tasks around the office, including reception duties and managing legal files. Maire is currently pursuing a joint degree in both Common Law and Civil Law at McGill University.
